Fall Bible Study:

Join us this fall for a new Bible study, “Reading the Bible with Bonhoeffer: A Study in Discipleship and Courage,” by James C. Howell. We will gather on Sundays from 4:00–5:30 p.m. on September 20 and 27; October 4, 11, and 18; and November 8.

Cokesbury shares, “… this book shows how all that Bonhoeffer thought and did grew out of a deep reading of Scripture, which bore the fruit of a rich wisdom that called him to courage, love, and costly discipleship. By exploring texts upon which he preached and wrote letters, James C. Howell highlights how Bonhoeffer’s close reading of Scripture became God’s call during turbulent times, and a bold awareness that his life belonged to God, even in the face of uncertainty, suffering, and evil. This book invites us to read for ourselves today, imagining Bonhoeffer reading with us, so that we might, too, become faithful, probing, and courageous readers of the Bible and Jesus’ followers in the real world.”
